These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Kaalam at https://kaalam.today (the "Service"). By creating an account, accepting a workspace invitation, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

Who we are

Kaalam is a multi-workspace time-tracking, approval, and reporting application for companies, teams, and people tracking their own work. Questions about these Terms: [email protected].

Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
  • You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account.
  • You may sign in with email or supported providers such as Google through our authentication partner, Clerk.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.

Workspaces and roles

The Service is organized into workspaces. A Company Workspace can include workspace owners, workers, projects, project assignments, rates, and approval reviews. A Personal Workspace is for one person tracking their own work. Your access and visibility depend on your role in each workspace.

Workspace owners are responsible for managing workspace members, project assignments, cost rates, bill rates, approval decisions, and report exports. Workers are responsible for the accuracy of the time entries and descriptions they submit.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in violation of applicable law;
  • Access workspaces, data, or accounts without authorization;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its security;
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except as permitted by law;
  • Upload malicious code or use the Service to send spam or abusive content; or
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

Time entries, rates, and reports

The Service helps workspaces record time, review submitted entries, preserve historical rate context, and summarize approved work. Reports, billed amounts, worker costs, gross margin, and estimated income are informational records based on the data entered in the Service.

Kaalam does not verify the business accuracy of time entries, rates, approvals, exports, or workspace settings. You are responsible for reviewing this information before using it for billing, payment, payroll, accounting, or tax purposes.

Your content and data

You retain ownership of time entries, project information, workspace settings, review notes, and other content you submit. You grant us a limited license to host, process, display, and back up that content solely to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit content and invite members to your workspaces.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Clerk for authentication and Convex for application data storage and synchronization. Your use of sign-in providers such as Google is also subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We try to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if needed to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Kaalam IS A TIME-TRACKING AND REPORTING TOOL ONLY. IT DOES NOT PROCESS PAYROLL, ISSUE INVOICES, COLLECT PAYMENTS, OR PROVIDE TAX, LEGAL, OR ACCOUNTING ADVICE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KAALAM AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF USD $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our negligence or willful misconduct.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence remain unaffected where applicable.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
